YOUR CBD QUESTIONS ANSWERED

WHAT IS CBD

CBD is simply short for “cannabidiol”, the second-most abundant cannabinoid molecule produced within the cannabis (hemp) plant. CBD is closely related to another very important phytocannabinoid: tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the compound that most individuals are familiar with. CBD differs from THC in one very important way, CBD does not give consumers the “high” that THC does. Cannabinoids, like CBD, are known to interact with our endocannabinoid system — the prime network in our bodies comprised of receptors and hormones to help the body reach its full health potential.

WHERE DOES CBD COME FROM?

When someone first hears the word Cannabis, they immediately think of Marijuana. The plant Cannabis sativa has two primary species, hemp and marijuana. Both of these plants contain CBD, but hemp contains a much higher percentage of CBD, and also contains a much lower level of THC (less than .03%) compared to marijuana. Even though Marijuana and Hemp are derived from the Sativa plant, they both affect the human body in their own different ways.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF CBD

Full-Spectrum

A Full-Spectrum CBD product usually undergoes less processing than a CBD isolate. Usually, through CO2 extraction, CBD oil is produced by extracting the beneficial compounds found in the hemp plant. The results is a full-spectrum oil that contains all the cannabinoids such as CBD (Cannabidiol), CBG (Cannabigerol), CBC (Cannabichromene (CBC) and THCV (Tetrahydrocannabivarin). This allows the individuals to reap the most benefits of the “entourage effect.”

Broad Spectrum:

Broad-Spectrum CBD oils are usually extracted in the same way as Full-Spectrum. The oil goes through an extra refinement process to remove all the THC compounds. This allows consumers to obtain all the benefits of the hemp plant without the addition of THC.

Isolate:

CBD Isolate goes through numerous extraction processes in order to remove are remaining waxes, terpenes, and other cannabinoids. This creates a CBD product that is can contain up to 99% CBD. Isolates usually come in crystal form that needs to be crushed down into powder form for easier consumption.

IS CBD LEGAL?

In 2018, updates to the U.S. Farm Bill legalized the commercial cultivation of hemp under certain regulations. We recommend our customer to look up your state law in order to determine the legality of hemp products.

WILL CBD GET ME HIGH?

The short answer is no! You are able to enjoy all the beneficial compounds from the hemp plant without the “stoned” effect caused by THC. Full-spectrum CBD products still contain traces of THC, but it’s typically not enough to induce any euphoric effects.

CAN I FAIL A DRUG TEST?

It all depends on the CBD product you are consuming. Full-Spectrum products contain traces of THC up to .03%. This may cause THC to show up on drug tests. For those worried about failing a drug test, options such as Broad-Spectrum CBD and CBD Isolates, which contain 0% THC, are an alternative option.

EDIBLES, TINCTURES, AND VAPE PENS…..WHAT’S BEST FOR ME?

There are so many different ways you can consume CBD today. It really all depends on what your overall goal is by taking CBD. One of the biggest differences between tinctures, edibles, and vape pens is the speed in which a person feels the effects and how long those effects last. Vapes relief can cause a person to feel immediate relief, but those symptoms usually wear off faster.

Tinctures and edibles take longer to work but can last a lot longer than. The effects usually last around 4-6 hours from the time a person consumes. This is usually the most popular way for someone looking to try out CBD for the first time.

WHAT IS THE RIGHT DOSE FOR ME?

Everyone is different, which means that everyone’s dosage will change depending on body weight, the condition being treated, and individual body chemistry. For beginners, we recommend starting with 20 to 40 mg a day. After a week, increase this amount by 5 mg. Closely monitor the amount CBD is taken on a daily basis, and adjust the dosage as needed.

HOW SHOULD I STORE CBD? SHELF LIFE?

CBD, being an all-natural product, can degrade with age if not stored correctly. In order to slow down the degrading process, store CBD in a cool, dark place. Usually, CBD products if stored correctly has a shelf life of 1-2 years.
